In praise of Facebook’s Languages in Primary Schools forum

Well done Facebook. I know you come in for a lot of criticism from some quarters but you won’t hear me complaining. (Anyway, what would be the point?)

I must say, you are certainly doing interest groups a great service if my experience on the Languages in Primary Schools forum is anything to go by.

I’m not currently teaching Spanish, and in fact I’ve never actually taught it at primary level – primary MFL teachers, are you wincing at this confession? – but it’s very helpful as well as interesting to be able to dip in and out of this excellent forum, full as it is with cutting edge ideas, latest developments in MFL, and fascinating personal stories from primary MFL teachers themselves. And it looks to me like they are enjoying the experience as much as I am, if the nature of the posts from its 2,300 members is anything to go by.
